As operators, we strive to continually focus on being as safe as possible. In addition, as we consider the new FAA SMS Mandate, which is scheduled to be implemented in May 2027, along with other standards such as ISBAO and BASC, we strive to meet these guidelines by adopting SMS systems, various safety technologies, various training endeavors, and other safety-related procedures tailored to our operation. But did you know that your insurer could be a valuable resource in helping you move the safety needle?
Improving an operator’s safety program reduces risk for everyone, including the insurance industry. As a result, many insurance companies offer assistance with Aviation training, Upset Recovery training, Emergency Response Planning (ERP), Fatigue Risk Management (FRMS), and Safety Management Systems (SMS), among other services.
While many insurers are different in what they can offer, you should make it an annual question when renewing your insurance policies to ask about the types of safety assistance that may be bundled in the policy. This type of help can be just the thing you need to help your operation adopt something new that enables you to become safer.
Polaris Aero is a participant in several Safety Assistance programs with many Insurers and can also help steer you in the right direction.
